SANDPOINT — Here we go into week two of The Festival at Sandpoint, with another great line-up of talent and a wide array of musical genres on stage at Memorial Field! Your best bet is to attend every show, so as not to miss a minute of the fun.

Also on tap this week, the fabulous POAC Arts & Crafts Fair this weekend at City Beach, the self-guided Artists’ Studio Tour of Sandpoint, live music outdoors at Summer Sounds at Park Place and Sandpoint Farmers Market and a packed itinerary of music at all the local venues.

We also take an advance look at next week, which brings the Montana Shakespeare in the Parks acting troupe to the fairgrounds for a free performance of the Bard’s classic ‘Richard III’ on Aug. 21.

Thursday, Aug. 11

Angelique Kidjo at the Festival at Sandpoint!

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at the Festival at Sandpoint!

Time: Luke Bell opens the show at 7:30 p.m.; headliners Nitty Gritty Dirt Band hit the stage at 8:30 p.m., Friday

Artists’ Studio Tour of North Idaho

Venue: Self-guided driving tour of artists’ studios.

Time: 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday,

A total of 28 diverse artists will be showing at 16 studios in the greater Sandpoint area for two art-packed weekends: Aug. 12-14 and Aug. 19-21. The tour is self-guided, so you choose which studios you visit and when. Brochures at businesses throughout Sandpoint tell a bit about each artist plus give their contact information. Included also are area maps and clear driving directions to each studio location.

Mills is an expert finger-style guitarist, and singer/songwriter.

Venue: Downtown Bonners Ferry, beginning at Georgia Mae Plaza.

Time: Tour starts at 5 p.m., Friday

Rock on down the road with stops for food and adult beverages include the Rusty Moose, Under the Sun, Heartrock Wines/Crosstime Saloon, Kootenai River Inn and the Pearl Theater.

‘Department Q’ trilogy
