SANDPOINT — Getting in shape and feeling better has never been easier, thanks to Sandpoint Hot Yoga.
“We love the community, people here work hard and play hard, both of which require some quiet time to yourself,” owner Kerri Kuntz said. “In doing yoga, we teach the value of taking care of yourself so that you may take care of other people and things in your life to the best of your ability. This concept contributes to the health of the individual, families, community, and even global health.”
The studio reopened May 7 at 1243 Michigan St. in Sandpoint. Classes are offered daily and there are a variety of packages to fit every schedule and price range.
The studio offers a local special of $20 for 20 consecutive days of unlimited yoga, Kuntz said. From there, prices vary depending on the package, which include unlimited, five-class, 10-class and 20-class cards.
Yoga helps people feel good, do better at work, treat families better, and builds community awareness and strength, Kuntz said.
“When a group of people do yoga together, the energy that is created is incredibly powerful,” she added.
“Hot yoga” gets its name due to the fact its held in a heated room for its health benefits and for safety, Kuntz said, noting that muscles move and stretch better when warmed up.
“However, it’s not all hot,” she said. “We have varying classes and levels of heat. People tend to love or hate the heat and we find that the people who ‘think they hate it’ end up really benefiting from it.”
All classes are suitable for first-timers/beginners, and the staff works with people of all ages, abilities, and with any injuries and conditions, Kuntz said.
“We offer the most basic, beginning form of yoga that literally anyone can do, yet offer enough of a challenge for students who have been practicing for a long time,” she said. “It’s what we are all trained in and all of our instructors have been through at lest one, if not many, professional certification process.”
Sandpoint Hot Yoga currently offers two to four classes every day as well as private one-on-one instruction, semi-privates and special group classes.
“We really are here to serve the community and will work with all backgrounds and budgets,” Kuntz said. “Each of our instructors have had a long personal journey with many challenges and therefore we understand the unique situations that accompany our students.”
