BONNERS FERRY — All those hunters who came up short in June’s controlled hunt drawing will have more chances to secure a coveted tag or two this month, according to Idaho Fish and Game. Up for grabs are more than 2,800 deer, elk, pronghorn and black bear tags for Idaho hunting enthusiasts.

IDFG is accepting applications Aug. 5 through Aug. 15. Those who are interested can apply at Idaho Fish and Game license vendors, by phone or online at the IDFG website. The application fee is $6.25 for state residents and $14.95 for out-of-state residents for each species.

IDFG will announce the results of the drawing Aug. 20, and if any tags remain unclaimed, the agency will sell them on a first-come, first-served basis Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.

Although a few of the controlled hunts will already be in progress when the second drawing takes place, plenty of hunting time will still be available for the majority of them. Current big game season dates and rules are available in this year’s seasons and rules brochure or on the IDFG website.

Additionally, the agency has slated a Super Hunt drawing with an entry deadline of Aug.10. 10. Officials will draw two elk tags, two deer tags, two pronghorn tags and one moose tag, plus one Super Hunt Combo, which includes tags for each of these species. The $6 entry fees for single Super Hunt tags and $20 fees for the Super Hunt Combo help support access to and across private lands in Idaho for hunters and anglers. Entrants can purchase as many chances as they like.
