The Columbia Falls golf team starts its season Wednesday with a tournament in Whitefish. The Wildcats have 12 boys, and three girls, said head coach Gene Marcille.

Of the 12 boys, four are returning players from last year’s state qualifying team — Logan Lybbert, Logan Peck, Trey Perkins and L.J. Panasuk.

The boys team has no seniors, but Marcille said he still has high hopes for them.

Because of the threat of frigid fall weather, golf starts earlier than any other sport.

“We’ll have half our season done by the first day of school,” Marcille noted.

The girls are led by senior Ali Gould, who has two state appearances under her belt. This is her fourth year with the team and it could use some more athletes.

Girls who are interested in playing should call Marcille at 249-3693.
