Truck collides with house; no one hurt

The Whitefish Police Department and Whitefish Fire Department responded to a home on Suncrest Drive after a truck “lost brakes and went crashing through the house.” The driver and everyone in the house was OK.

A Waverly Place resident called Whitefish police to complain about a dog howling since the early morning hours. The caller said it was an ongoing problem. Officers gave the dog’s owners a warning.

A woman called police to report a lost passport. She suspected losing it somewhere on Central Avenue the night before. Officers had found the missing ID, and she was able to recover it from them.

A fight reported on Central Avenue ended with one man unconscious and two suspects under arrest. The unconscious man refused medical help after he woke up.

Someone called about a noisy crowd on a boat “cruising around the swim area” near Whitefish City Beach. Officers found the boat docked appropriately when they arrived.

A Mountain Park Drive resident complained about some noisy neighbors having a party on their outside deck. Officers investigated the area, but heard nothing.

A Wisconsin Avenue resident called police concerned that a suspicious man was tampering with some mailboxes. Officers made contact with the man in question, and found him to be “slightly intoxicated” and lost. Officers assisted in getting him a taxi to get where he was going safely.


A concerned caller told the Columbia Falls Police Department that a goat was being abused on Martha Road. The caller said the animal was tied up “so close that it can’t move its head” in the back of a pickup truck, without food or water. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle being described or the animal.

A Third Avenue West resident told police there was a stray dog in her yard that “seems very hungry” but wouldn’t come close enough for her to feed or detain it. She described the animal as a chocolate lab without a collar. Officers were unable to locate the animal.

A Pleasant Valley Road resident called to report “very loud music” coming from nearby. The music had been turned off before officers responded.


The Bad Rock Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on Jensen Road.


The Coram-West Glacier Fire Department responded to reports of smoke spotted near U.S. 2 East.
