A small fire broke out Monday morning near the Alberton highway ramp in the I-90 eastbound lane.

The call came in at 8 a.m. near mile marker 75. Forest Service and Frenchtown Fire Department personnel responded and quickly extinguished the flames. Bystanders also helped to keep the fire under control until emergency personnel arrived. Crews were mopping up the burn area, which was less than one acre by 9 a.m. Cause of the fire is still under investigation.
