ROYAL CITY — A Royal City woman was injured on August 9 when the car she was driving collided with another on Highway 26, about six miles west of Royal City.

Neither alcohol nor drugs was involved, the Washington State Patrol said, and both drivers were employing proper safety restraints.

Petra B. Lopez, 43, of Royal City was eastbound on 26 around 11 a.m. when the collision occurred. She was driving a cream 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

The second car, a gray 2007 Nissan Sentra, was driven by Trevor T. Snow, 19, of Steilacoom. That vehicle was eastbound, trailing the PT Cruiser.

According to the WSP, Lopez slowed for traffic near milepost 11, and the Nissan struck her PT Cruiser from the rear. The Nissan came to rest on the westbound shoulder, partially in the ditch. The PT Cruiser came to rest on the eastbound shoulder.

Lopez was taken by ambulance to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. Snow was uninjured.

Both vehicles sustained damage and were removed by Oscar’s Towing.

The WSP cited Snow for “speed too fast.”
