Dave Graybill: The Fishin' Magician
Friday | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 8 years, 4 months AGO
One of my many favorite memories of fishing when I was just a youngster is about a day spent on Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee. My Dad took my brother and sister and some cousins along to do some perch fishing. He rented a big row boat and after paddling out to a likely spot on the lake handed us each a reel. He had stripped off enough line to get the baited hook and sinker to the bottom. He told us that when we got a bite to pull the line in hand over hand and then pull the fish into the boat. He was pretty smart. Having a boat load of kids whipping their rods around would have been a nightmare. We filled a gunny sack with fat perch that day. This was over 50 years ago and I still remember it clearly. Make you own memories with your kids and get up to Fish Lake. The perch are biting and it is a great way to spend a summer morning. Fortunately the limit is now 25 perch at Fish Lake. I think my Dad had to deal with about 300 fish back then. Poor guy.
