Hijinia Vela went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2016 in Pasco, Washington.

Hijinia was born January 11, 1929 in Repueblo de Oriente, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Martiliano and Genoveva Campos. She was the eldest of eight children, including Hilaria, Delfina, Irma, Froilan, Eva, Juanito, and Ofelia.

She was a devoted, godly wife to her late husband, Maximiliano (Nito) Vela. Hijinia is survived by her eight children, Max Vela III, Delia Vela Gode, Rigo Vela, Ariel Vela, Quine Vela, Odulia Vela Anthony, Adrian Vela, and Lori Vela, along with six sons and daughters-in-law, 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved and adored their godly matriarch.

Max and Hijinia resided in Texas, California, and finally planted roots in Othello, Washington in the 1960’s. This was where Hijinia became a proud U.S. citizen, raised their children, sacrificed for years to help her children finish college and to become successful career professionals.

Hijinia was proud of her children’s accomplishments and achievements, and took pride in their success. She was an example to her family as a loving, caring, hardworking, and selfless mother.

Throughout her life struggles, she overcame them by her calling as a mother and her faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. Hijinia became a loyal member of the Bethel Assemblies of God in Othello, and loved studying her worn Bible, singing hymns, quoting favorite scriptures and praying fervently.

Hijinia suffered from congestive heart failure and passed away in Pasco, Washington. She lived her faith and “Her children arise and called her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” (Proverbs 31:28)
