Red Hot Mamas rockin' at the fair

<p>The Red Hot Mamas will be performing today and Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the North Idaho State Fair.</p>
The Coeur d’Alene area’s very own Red Hot Mamas are “Rockin’ Through the Ages” at the North Idaho State Fair.
With performances today and Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., the Mamas’ show features dance numbers with songs like “Gimme Some Lovin’,” “Shout,” “Greased Lightnin’,” “The Land of 1,000 Dances,” a Mama-style STOMP and giant flamingos prancing to “Can’t Touch This.”
They will be beating out percussion cadences with rolling ironing boards, shopping carts, tubs, kitchen utensils and buckets.
“These women bring such exuberance and fun, audiences just can’t help laughing and smiling until their cheeks hurt,” said Deborah Miranda, production director for the group.
The Red Hot Mamas have been providing musical comedy entertainment to the community and beyond for more than 25 years. Group members’ ages range from the 20s to 70s.
They support community and charity events monthly and have appeared by invitation in two United States Presidential Inaugurations, two Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades, the London England New Year’s Celebration and many other events such as “Good Morning America,” “The Today Show,” MTV, ABC’s “Nightline,” Fiesta Bowl and Holiday Bowl.
A documentary of the group will be released in October and Macy’s creative producers are making plans for a third performance by The “Mamas” in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2017.
