The Ministerial Association is partnering with local churches, businesses, families, and individuals to raise money and collect food for the annual Christmas Food Baskets project. Applications for the Christmas Food Baskets will be available at the Community Action Partnership (Food Bank). All applications must be turned in to the Community Action Partnership by Dec. 12

Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at any of the local churches where you have found these announcements. If you would like to donate money to provide turkeys or hams, please mail donations to: Boundary County Ministerial Association, PO Box 722, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805.

Some of the items needed for food baskets are: turkey/ham, dinner rolls, cranberries, potatoes, stuffing mix, canned fruit, celery, olives, canned vegetables, onions, yams, chicken broth, gravy and jello.

Frozen pumpkin pies (in gallon zip lock bags) and frozen turkeys or hams can be dropped off at the American Legion Hall at the fairgrounds on Monday Dec. 19 by 8 am to be included in the food baskets.

The Holiday Food Basket program is just one of the ways in which the Ministerial Association provides assistance to those in need. Emergency food, gas, and shelter as well as help with rent and utility payments are other ways the association assists those in need. So any help you feel called to provide will be greatly appreciated!

We will be packing boxes with non-perishable items on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the American Legion Hall beginning at 12:00 p.m. Perishable items will be packed on Monday, Dec 19 at 8:00 a.m. Recipients can pick up their baskets that day between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Unclaimed baskets will be taken to the Senior Center and Restorium for their use.

Pastor Andy Hinderlie of Trinity Lutheran Church and Father Carlos Perez of St. Anne’s are heading up this project with the help of the Ministerial Association, the American Legion of Bonners Ferry, and support from the Bonners Ferry Schools and Community.

Please join us in whatever way you feel called. We need people to bake pies, pack and deliver boxes, gather donations, and help organize workers. If you would like to volunteer or have questions, please contact Pastor Andy Hinderlie at 208-267-2894 or on his cell at 605-368-0720. You can also email: [email protected].
