Newly-elected state Rep. Paul Amador, R-Coeur d’Alene, and third-term Rep. Luke Malek, R-Coeur d’Alene, announced their committee assignments for the upcoming legislative session in January.

Amador will serve on the Education Committee that meets in the mornings each day during the session, and will serve on two afternoon committees: Agriculture and Judiciary, Rules and Administration.

“Improving our educational system and the opportunities we provide for our children is our most important role in state government,” Amador said, in a statement issued Friday.

Amador is an administrator for the University of Idaho in Coeur d’Alene and holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership.

“I look forward to serving the people of District 4,” Amador said. “We will have many opportunities to improve the lives of all Idahoans.”

Malek will continue to serve for a second consecutive term on the Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee (JFAC) in the mornings. He was also appointed to be the vice-chairman of the Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee. This will be his third term serving on that committee. Finally, he will serve for the first time on the Environment, Energy and Technology Committee.

Malek said of his assignments: “I couldn’t be more thrilled. JFAC is critical to the needs of Kootenai County and Northern Idaho, and I will continue to ensure the needs of our area are part of the discussion in Boise.”
