SANDPOINT — State Farm agent Greg Vermeulen will host a holiday party, open to the public, on the evening of Dec. 15.

Vermeulen, whose office is located on Pine Street, opened one of the two State Farm offices in Sandpoint in October. His wife and office manager, Shauna Vermeulen, said their family recently moved to the area from southwest Montana.

"We are new to the community, so that's why we are holding the open party, not just for our clients, but for everyone," Greg Vermeulen said. "We really want to get plugged into the community and give back anyway we can."

One way the Vermeulens are giving back to the community is through a partnership with the Sandpoint Lions in the Toys for Tots drive. Shauna Vermeulen said helping out the cause will be a main focus of the party. Anyone who brings a new, unwrapped toy to the office will be entered into a raffle drawing for a chance to win prizes. She said the smallest prize is a "Jake from State Farm" mug, a gift basket and snowman tin of goodies are the next prizes up, and the largest prizes are $50 gift cards — one for MickDuff's and one for Meadowbrook in the Cedar Street Bridge.

A drawing will be held at 6 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Vermeulen's office is a drop-off location for Toys for Tots, so donations can be made anytime during regular office hours as well.

"We'd love to collect as many toys as we can," Shauna Vermeulen said.

Hors d'oeuvres, hot cocoa, apple cider and treats will be provided throughout the evening.

The party will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the State Farm office, 803 Pine St., Sandpoint.
