BIGFORK — Bigfork edged past Eureka 39-33 in a low-scoring District 7B basketball game on Tuesday night.
A sloppy start for each team, the game was tied 4-4 after the first quarter. The Valkyries (1-0) pulled away in the second and third quarters, gradually pulling out to a seven-point lead, then holding on for the victory down the stretch.
“It’s your typical first game jitters,” Valkyries coach Jami Grende said. “It was kind of ugly, but it’s a win.”
Jaime Berg had a game-high 15 points to lead Bigfork and Haile Norred had nine.
Lions sophomore guard Sienna Utter led Eureka (1-2 overall, 0-1 District 7B) with 10 points.
Bigfork will be back on the court this weekend at the Shelby Tip-off tournament.
