MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man was arrested Sunday afternoon after reportedly fleeing a traffic stop in Moses Lake.
About 3 p.m. an employee at Auto Zone in Moses Lake, 632 S. Pioneer Way, contacted MACC Dispatch advising a man, alleged to be Levi Godfrey, 26, of Moses Lake, had walked out of the business with unpurchased merchandise. The caller was not positive as to what Godfrey had stolen and requested he be trespassed from the business, according to police records.
Godfrey was later spotted driving the suspect vehicle from the alleged theft. Godfrey matched the description of the suspect from Auto Zone and he allegedly gave police a false name and fled a traffic stop. He reportedly drove through a fence and crashed his vehicle alongside a canal bank. He was reportedly located in a field in the area of state Route 17 and Canal Road after fleeing from the crashed vehicle.
Godfrey was booked into the Grant County Jail for eluding, hit-and-run, first-degree driving with a suspended or revoked license, an ignition interlock violation, making false/misleading statements and obstructing, according to police records.
