Remembering Linda True
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 years, 1 month AGO
Linda True, 67 (May 9, 1949 – Nov. 30, 2016) went to be with the Lord after a valiant two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer on Nov. 30, 2016, in Lake Oswego, Ore., with her husband and children by her side. Born in San Diego, Calif., to Robert and Carolyn Williams, Linda was the oldest of six children.
Her family moved to the San Fernando Valley, just north of Los Angeles, Calif., where she attended grade school and eventually graduated from Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, Calif. She worked as a Teller at UCB where she met Paul True, the love of her life. They married in 1977 in an orange grove outside the Faculty Center at California State University, Northridge where her father was a Dean NS Founding Father. They were married for 39 years.
Linda and Paul lived in West Hills, Calif., where they began their family. The joy of her life was staying home to raise her two children, Jane and Michael. They moved to Leona Valley, Calif., in 1987 where she was active in 4-H with her children and finally to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1992. In Coeur d’Alene, Linda attended Lake City Community Church and from 1996 to 2009 worked as a house mom at Children’s Village, a home for abused and neglected children. She maintained loving friendships with many she worked with, as well as with many of the children.
Linda’s interests included sewing, reading, crafts and listening to music. She enjoyed spending time with her girlfriends whether that was quilt-hopping or just meeting for coffee. She had so many special people in her life. However, nothing made her happier than spending time with family, particularly her husband, children and grandchildren.
She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister and a dedicated and loyal friend to many. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her kind and caring heart, sweet smile, radiant blue eyes, dedication to her Lord Jesus, adventurous spirit, and deep love and commitment to her family.
She is survived by her husband, Paul True; children Jane (Jon) Rubey of Lake Oswego and Michael (Courtney) True of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Kalli, Riley and Caden; mother Carolyn Williams; two sisters, Ann Locke and Cathy Fabisch; and three brothers, Robert, David and Steven Williams. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert J. Williams.
A celebration of life will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at River West Church, 2000 Country Club Road, Lake Oswego, OR 97034. The family would like to give many thanks to the remarkable and unwavering care and devotion of the staff and doctors at Compass Oncology Vancouver and to Providence Hospice for helping make Linda’s last few weeks more comfortable.
