ROYAL CITY — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a possible suspect in a double shooting near Royal City early Friday morning that left one person dead and another injured.

About 5 a.m. one person was found dead and another was found wounded in a SUV alongside state Route 26, near state Route 262, about three miles east of Royal City. The injured subject was airlifted from the scene to a nearby hospital.

The identities of the injured people have not been released. The sheriff's office previously stated the incident is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives believe a suspect may be at large, but currently don’t have the person’s description. The sheriff’s office is hoping a passerby might have witnessed the incident and will come forward with information.

A section of SR-26 was closed between Royal City and Othello for several hours Friday morning as detectives investigated. The highway was reopened about 10:30 a.m. If you have information contact the sheriff’s office at 509-762-1160 or email information to crimetips@grantcountywa.gov. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
