OTHELLO — The Old Hotel & Art Gallery will be featuring not just one, but two local Artists of the month throughout December.

One of these artists is Emily Bass, who aims to promote joy with every art piece she creates.

“With my work, I want to bring happiness into the home,” she said.

Bass specializes in creating LDS artwork and keepsakes, featuring LDS quotes, temples and greeting cards. Each piece is handmade, and the pieces come in a variety of colors.

Using card stock, vinyl and fabric, Bass takes special care in crafting each piece. She begins her designs on the computer, then uses a vinyl cutter to carefully cut out each temple silhouette and words. She then personally adheres each piece to the card stock.

Bass particularly enjoys using vibrant colors to promote brightness and joy in the home of each person who receives her art.

“I wanted to find something that I would enjoy doing that would better the home,” she said.

The Old Hotel will be featuring pieces from her Christmas line, including one piece in particular that Bass says is her favorite one she’s ever made.

It is a framed depiction of the three wise men, cut out in white silhouettes along with a camel and a star. Below the depiction reads the quote “Wise men still seek him,” set to a blue background.

In June, Bass started her own Easy shop called The Ruby Swan to showcase and sell her pieces. She also takes custom orders where customers can specify their preferred temple and quote.
