SHOUT OUT: To the Dockside staff
We wanted to take the time to give a “Shout Out” to the staff at the Dockside restaurant who worked on Thanksgiving Day.
We came in at 3:15 p.m. for the Thanksgiving buffet. The staff had already put in many, many hours of preparation and work before we arrived.
We were greeted with smiles from the time we checked in at reservations to the time we left. Even while waiting just a few minutes to be seated, we observed the staff going between the kitchen and the buffet room to be smiling and laughing. They all looked so happy. That cheerfulness spread to our group, as well.
We were seated at a wonderful table by the window, but one of our guests had spinal surgery not long ago and was going to be uncomfortable sitting on a chair. We were gladly offered a booth as soon as one came available. Until the booth was ready, a staff member provided our guest with a cushion to sit on. As busy as it was, the entire staff made the transition easy and smooth for us … all with a smile. The food, as always, EXCELLENT!
Thank you for a wonderful job in making our Thanksgiving Day at The Coeur d’Alene Resort a beautiful and pleasurable experience.

THANKS: Baskets a success
Community Action Partnership Food Bank would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the following for helping make our 2016 Thanksgiving basket distribution a tremendous success! During the week of Nov. 14, we gave out more than 1,600 Thanksgiving baskets totaling more than 40,000 pounds of turkeys and dinner fixings to Kootenai County families.
First of all, we want to thank all of the volunteers who donated their time to serve our community (more than 900 hours!). Volunteers from all backgrounds and ages helped during this time. From businesses like Slick Rock Tanning & Spa, to church groups from Lake City Community Church and Community United Methodist Church and youth home school groups, Christian Center School and families. We could not provide this holiday meal to the community without the help from these groups in addition to the many regularly scheduled and holiday volunteers too numerous to mention! Thank you all so much for giving of yourself to make the holiday special for so many! Your dedication is greatly appreciated!
We would also like to thank the many businesses, organizations and individuals who made our Thanksgiving distribution possible with their generous support:
Turkeys for All, Charlie’s Produce and Family of Farmer Partners, 2nd Harvest, Super 1 Foods, Grocery Outlet, Lake City Rental, Schuon Manufacturing, Community United Methodist Church, JA Bertsch Heating & Cooling, Idaho Independent Bank, CDA Evening Rotary, Triple Play Family Fun Park, Squeaky’s Car Wash, MacKenzie River Pizza, Perfection Tire, North Idaho Pickleball Association, Lutheran Church of the Master, Fran Stephens, Lavender Frog, Triple A, Rambling Rovers, UGM and the many, many individual donors who mailed or dropped off food and financial contributions!
Lastly, thank you to the community for their continued support of the food bank. The volunteers, donors and community make our Thanksgiving distribution possible. Community Action Partnership is honored to be the vehicle in which to provide this valuable resource to families who need it. THANK YOU ALL for making it possible!
Sincerely,
NICOL BARNES

THANKS: To Grabbagreen owners
I am writing to express my gratitude to Christina and Ben Horton, owners of the new Grabbagreen restaurant in Coeur d’Alene, who selected the Inland Northwest Food Network as their designated charity. Since their opening in late November, they have raised more than $1,000 in donations. Customers are given the option to donate to the Inland Northwest Food Network, and each month we will be receiving a check to support our work.
We are thrilled to be partnering with Grabbagreen, a national franchise that specializes in non-GMO, hormone/antibiotic-free, fresh organic food for people on the go. Their focus on providing healthy food for people is very much aligned with our mission of connecting people, place, food and farms through education and outreach. These kinds of partnerships are key to creating communities that actively support healthy lifestyle choices.
Thank you Grabbagreen, and in particular, Christina and Ben for your vision and support!
