Libby wins at Bob Kinney Wrestling Classic with Clark Fork in sixth place

Libby won the annual Bob Kinney Wrestling Classic held over last weekend in Superior. Teams from all over Western Montana traveled through several inches of snow and cold to reach the high school gym for a day of intense competition. Clark Fork Mountain Cats came in sixth place with a score of 81.5.
In the end, Libby scored 159.5 points, followed by Thompson Falls with 148; Plains Hot Springs, 129; Corvallis, 126; Mission Charlo, 102.5; Clark Fork, 81.5; Stevensville, 66; Whitefish, 59; Browning, 46; Arlee, 41; Cut Bank, 38; Glacier, 16; Flint Creek, 6.
The championships for Libby went to Buddy Doolin at 103 and Reed Christensen at 132. Clark Fork,’s Michael Parkin came in third place at 113, beating Mason Sams from Libby. Teammate Tyler VanTassel lost to Mission Charlo’s Bailey Wieble at 120.
Isaiah Kovalski made it to third place at 126, beating out Joshiah Vanderwall of Plains-Hotsprings. He then lost to Mission Charlo’s Isaac DuMontier who went on to win the championship. At 132, Clark Fork’s Kaleb Ververis came in second place, where Christensen won. Ververis beat Michael Diller from Libby for a slot in the final round.
Clark Fork’s Jesse Shaske competed at 138, but didn’t place. At 152, James Detienne of Plains-Hot Springs took the championship with Cody Garrison of Thompson Falls, in second. Clark Fork’s Jack Mitchell lost to Daylon Moore of Corvallis for fourth with teammate Tucker McLees taking a loss against Calvin Racine from Browning, leading up to the final rounds.
At 160, Clark Fork’s Trey Green came in fourth with a loss against TJ Knoll of Arlee. Ryan Cahalin, of Clark Fork, competed at 170 and lost to Mason Torrez from Glacier as they headed into final rounds. Teammates Trevor Linkey competed at 205 and Evan Hall at 285 without placing.
