SOAP LAKE — Seven children from Soap Lake will have the opportunity to shop with a Soap Lake Police Department officer next week, but to make the event a special occasion, donations are still needed.

The SLPD’s Shop with a Cop event is set for Tuesday, just in time for Christmas. The seven participants and their families will be meeting with SLPD officers at the Ephrata Walmart, 1399 Nat Washington Way, at 3 p.m. and hitting the aisles until 5 p.m. From there the kids and cops will be heading back to the Soap Lake Senior Center, 121 Second Ave. SE, for pizza and a gift wrapping party.

Donations are still being accepted to help make the event a success. People interested in making a donation are encouraged to take their contribution to Soap Lake City Hall, 239 Second Ave. SE, before 4 p.m. on Monday. City Hall is closed on Friday. The SLPD asks that checks be made out to “City of Soap Lake,” with “Shop with a Cop” written in the memo line.

For more information contact the Soap Lake Police Department at 509-246-1122.
