Chiefs fall to Prince George

SPOKANE — Keanu Yamamoto scored midway through the third period to extend his point streak to 14 games for Spokane, but the Chiefs fell to the Prince George Cougars 2-1 in Western Hockey League play in front of 6,094 at the Spokane Arena on Saturday night.

Yamamoto’s goal, his 14th of the season, cut the deficit to 2-1 for Spokane (14-13-5-1, 34 points), which trails Seattle by three points for fourth place in the U.S. Division. Kailer Yamamoto assisted on the play, his sixth straight assist in as many contests.

Prince George opened the scoring in the first period on a goal by Tate Olson. After a scoreless second, Aaron Boyd scored at the 14:11 mark to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead.

Spokane is off until Tuesday, Dec. 27, playing at Seattle at 7:05.
