Dorothy Lorraine Zehm, (Dort, Dottie), 86, was a lifetime resident of Kootenai County, Idaho. She was born May 22, 1930 on her parents’ farm just south of Worley, Idaho. Her parents were Walter and Manilla Boswell. Dorothy died Dec. 15, 2016, at Kootenai Health.

Dorothy grew up in the Worley, Idaho, area and attended the Worley School. In the fall of 1946, she met Harley Zehm and they were married in March 1947 on her parent’s farm. At that time, she moved to the home Harley purchased in the town of Worley. All of her five children were born while living in Worley. In the fall of 1959, the family moved to Dalton Gardens, Idaho. Her husband Harley died in the fall of 2003.

Due to health issues, Dorothy spent her final years in Assisted Living facilities with the primary facility being Wellspring Meadows in Hayden, Idaho. The staff at Wellspring loved Dorothy and took excellent care of her.

Dorothy was a lifetime homemaker. She loved dolls and had a large collection of dolls.

In her early years, Dorothy attended the Worley Community Church and later Bethel Baptist Church and the Coeur d’Alene Church of the Nazarene.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harley; her daughter, Brenda and son Dan.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Boser of Hayden Lake, Idaho; her son, James (Jim) Zehm of Emmett, Idaho; and her daughter, Sandra (Rogers) Compton of Hayden. Dorothy has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Bell Tower Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
