ST. MARIES — Dewey "Duke" Shawver, a St. Maries man who had been missing for nearly three weeks, has been located alive and well, Benewah County Sheriff Dave Resser told The Press last week.

"Per his request, no further information is being released at this time," Resser said, adding that he couldn't comment on where or what time Shawver was found or further details of the case.

An ad about Shawver missing was published in Sunday's Press. The Benewah County Sheriff's Office posted an update on its Facebook page that day that Shawver had been located.

According to the sheriff's office, the last physical contact someone had with Shawver was on Nov. 22 in St. Maries. Shawver's red 2006 Ford F350 truck with Idaho plates KV2800 was last seen on the morning of Nov. 23 in St. Maries.

"The sheriff's office is glad that he's alive and well and that we can close the case and take him off being a missing person," Resser said.

Personnel from Benewah, Latah and Shoshone counties checked several areas where Shawver was believed to have been seen or went to, Resser said, adding that his agency was notified about the case and began searching two weeks ago.

A phone message left with the Shawver family at the number posted in the newspaper ad was not returned last Monday.
