Coeur d’Alene High School wrapped up its annual charity drive last week, breaking records in several categories: 4,722 books were collected for local elementary children. Over $4,000 and 3,000 pounds of food were collected for the food bank. Students also provided Christmas for 12 local families (20 adults and 42 children).

The main goal for the school was to build unity in the school by having every student participate. Classes also competed against each other to gather the most food, books and money. Many students made significant donations, ranging from donations of $500 and $350 from two students who work fast food jobs, to a student who donated two dimes, humbly stating it was all he had.

Students were told, “Someday it could be you in need. Now you know that you have hundreds of classmates willing to help you and others in need.”
