Dec. 22, 1966 — AWARDS PRESENTED

Seven awards have been presented to class rooms in three of Sandpoint’s elementary schools in recognition of their leadership and excellence in completion of “Clean-Up-Paint-Up-Fix-Up” projects carried out in 31 rooms of Washington, Lincoln, Farmin and New Farmin schools, according to the Sandpoint Civic Club

In grades one through four, the second grades of Washington, Mrs. Kermit Miller teacher, and Farmin, Miss Josephine Rogers teacher, tied for first place with 100 percent participation. Mrs. Marguerite Judy’s third grade at Farmin won second prize and Mrs. Rose McFarland’s third grade at Farmin was the third place winner.

Winners of awards in grades five and six were New Farmin’s fifth grade, Mrs. Marion Spradlin teacher, first place; Mrs. Hazel Palmer’s fifth grade, second place; and J. A. Naccarato’s sixth grade, third place.

Presenting awards for the Civic Club were Mrs. Jesse Shaffer, Mrs. Alvin Colomb and Mrs. Forrest Wetterow.

CITY FILLS SKATING RINK

The city’s road grader was used Tuesday to blade up a ridge around a vacant lot at Boyer and Main and the lot has been sprayed with water to form an ice floor for skating.

Dec. 22, 1916 — PROCLAMATION

Since there will be another long year before Christmas comes again with the possibilities of goodfellowship and cheer you are urged to join in the festivities at Sandpoint’s Municipal Christmas tree this coming Christmas Day. The tree will be erected at the intersection of Church street and First avenue in front of the Gem theatre and will be lighted at 5 o’clock Christmas afternoon. Come one, come all, and make ours the gayest of all the Christmas gatherings Santa Claus attends this year. R.B. Himes, Mayor of Sandpoint.

Sandpoint schools close today for the holiday vacation which will extend to Jan. 3.

LATE SHOPPERS

Late shoppers have kept Sandpoint store forces on the jump all week with a steadily increasing volume of business as the week draws to a close. Merchants stated that business throughout the year has been of greater volume than 1915, and every month has shown increased trade over the corresponding periods of the year before.

GERMAN LUTHERAN

There will be a special program at the church, corner 5th and Alder, Dec. 25, at 2 p.m. The program will be mainly in German, with songs, recitations and a special Christmas address by Rev. Schneppe. Join us in our services.
