The Boundary County Middle School Leadership Class under Kelly Hinthorn “out donated” the Bonners Ferry High School FFA and Julie Smith in a friendly competition to support the Ministerial Association Christmas food basket delivery program. These two groups challenged each other as to who could collect the most frozen turkeys and/or hams for this wonderful community organization.

BCMS took the contest with a total score of 82-56 (+++MS 70 turkeys/12 hams; BFHS 4 turkeys/51 hams).

The HS FFA earned bonus points by delivering the items to Memorial Hall at the Fairgrounds in a driving snow storm on Monday morning. Transportation Director Bill Irwyn was at the helm of the bus during the storm. At Memorial Hall, a large number of volunteers accepted the students, hams and turkeys with cheers and open arms. The smiles on the student’s and volunteer’s faces was priceless!

I am proud to watch our students give back to our community. We are a community school! We are all in this together; we must support each other!
