Known globally, coming down from the north, and bearing gifts, “America’s veterinarian” Dr. Marty Becker had some things in common with Santa on Tuesday, Dec. 20, when he and his family visited Panhandle Animal Shelter. Not only did the Beckers bring gifts, they also gave their time and attention to all the animals on an individual basis. Staff and volunteers were joyfully in attendance as the visitors … well … visited with shelter residents.

“I honestly don’t know who was more impressed with the genuine Becker gene of total love for animals —the residents or me. I’m sure that dogs and cats will gladly attest to how their day was truly brightened by the Becker family visits,” said Marianne Love who was photographing the event.

To help inspire the community to open their homes this holiday season to a homeless cat or dog, PAS in is offering an adoption special for the holiday season — “Bring Joy to Your World.” Through Dec. 31, adoption fees for dogs, cats, and kittens (puppies not included) are just $25. All animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped.

The spirit of care and giving that Dr. Becker and his family exhibited at PAS will no doubt inspire others to share their love and homes with shelter animals. The gift of a home is sure to be reciprocated with unconditional love and joy that will last for years to come.
