Local students feeling the spirit of giving

Recently, the Christian Logger Athletes at Libby High School participated in a “Be E-Free” campaign. Through the campaign, they gave up all of their electronic devices, even cell phones, and were able to raise just over $2,200 to shop for their fellow students who may have not gotten Christmas presents without their help. So far, they’ve been able to purchase and wrap 17 gifts through their campaign.
The Christian Logger Athletes (CLA) was formed at the beginning of this school year. The group meets twice a month and discusses many topics and how they relate to the Bible, and also spend time researching and participating in community service in the area.
“This is a great gift to the community and the kids are very grateful that all who made this campaign a success,” Paula Collins said. Collins helped organize the group, but said that most of the organizing has been done by the students themselves, including her daughter, Alli Collins.
Meanwhile at Troy High School, the student council was busy this season shopping and wrapping gifts for needy families.
Earlier this year, the Lincoln County Credit Union provided $2,000 to the Troy Student Council, so that they could purchase 40 Christmas Gifts of $50 each for Troy District Students. The teachers then provide the names and gift ideas.
