David was born in Winchester, Mass., on Feb. 4, 1948. He left this Earth suddenly and unexpectedly at his home just outside of Bayview, Idaho, on Nov. 29, 2016.

He graduated from Woburn High School in Massachusetts and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force shortly thereafter. After his service, he graduated from East Coast Aero Tech before embarking on a career as an aircraft mechanic. During his three decades in the Roaring Fork Valley in Colorado he worked at the Aspen Airport FBO, the Aspen Ski Company and the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) before moving to Idaho in 2007. He worked for Idaho Transportation Department in Coeur d’Alene as a heavy equipment mechanic until his passing.

He lived for and loved to ride his Harleys and was always happiest on the open road. Fishing on Lake Pend Oreille soon became another favorite pastime. He enjoyed puttering around in his shop and on the property and always had numerous projects underway. David was the go-to guy for many things and his presence and wealth of knowledge will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Miriam Bergquist; and his brother, Paul (Lori) Bergquist.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Elaine (Rocos); and his brothers, Joel (Roberta) Bergquist and Peter (Kathleen) Bergquist. He also leaves behind nephews Nate (Leah) Bergquist and Johnny Lashley; nieces Faith, Meredith, Annalee, Ashley, Alyssa, Allison and Garnet; grand-nephews Jack, Miles and Newton; and his favorite cousin, Astrid Brown.

A celebration of David’s life will be held in the spring of 2017 and will be announced at that time.
