Clara Lyman Eggart, 90

1926-2016

Clara Lyman Eggart, 90, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, peacefully in her sleep. Clara was born in Eddy, N.D., on Aug. 3, 1926, to Sam and Clara Lyman.

She spent her childhood years in North Dakota, then her family relocated to Post Falls, Idaho, in her teen years. She married Warren Eggart in 1946 and the newlyweds moved to wherever Warren's job took them. They finally settled in Walla Walla, Wash., in 1965, where she spent many years as a wife/homemaker and later served as a faithful, longtime employee of Nelson Irrigation. Clara lived in Walla Walla/College Place until June 2016, when she moved to Cheney, Wash., to live with her son, Don and his wife, Sue. She felt very much at home in her new and final home, here on Earth, but missed so many dear friends and family in Walla Walla.

Over the course of her lifetime, she and Warren raised their five children, as well as providing care for their son, Jim's children: Renee, Aaron and Cameron, who spent a great deal of time in their home. Later on in life, Clara also cared for her great-grandchildren, Macy and Micah. She said some of her sweetest memories in life were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, on whom she left an indelible mark of faith, hope and love.

Clara's daily passions centered on her deep faith in God: being a prayer warrior for others, reading her Bible, ministering to women in her church, and sharing her love of Jesus with others. She also treasured time spent with family and dear friends, as well as extended periods of time at the family lake home in Hauser Lake, Idaho. Countless hours were spent with her loving husband, their five children and spouses, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Clara also loved to watch her children and grandchildren participate in their many sports and activities.

Clara's commitment to her Christian faith was demonstrated by her involvement in Walla Walla Presbyterian Church, where she and Warren faithfully served for many years, in numerous capacities. In addition, she led a Moms in Touch group of women and weekly Bible study groups for many years, members of which all understood that her absolute trust was in Jesus. Everyone who knew Clara knew her as a passionate follower of Jesus, who desired that everyone she knew would also love and follow Him.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Warren. She is survived by her five children, Kathy (Chuck) Talburt, Don (Sue) Eggart, Jeanne (Mike) Helfer, Julie (David) Narum and Jim (Julie) Eggart; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her nine siblings.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Walla Walla Presbyterian Church in Walla Walla.

The family is requesting donations be made to World Vision, in lieu of flowers, as it was a ministry she supported for many years.
