Bigfork third in Class B speech

With one individual champion and six other place-winners, Bigfork High School placed third in team speech and debate sweepstakes in the Class B state meet on Saturday in Ennis.

Grace Olechowski won the state championship in Original Oratory to lead the Bigfork effort.

Riley Hoveland placed third in Memorized Public Address and Shannon Frizzell was third in Expository Speaking for Bigfork.

Other state place-winners were Stacey Poulson, sixth place, Dramatic Interpretation; Melody McHaley, seventh place in Original Oratory; Braeden Tovey, seventh place, Expository Speaking; and Reuben Hubbard, eighth place in Extemporaneous Speaking.

In drama competition for Bigfork, Damon Maitland and KC Isaman placed second in Humorous Duo and Ben Johnson and Madigan Kinslow placed eighth in Serious Duo.

Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
