Music school receives grant for choir program

North Valley Music School announced this week that it will receive grant funding from the Cadeau Foundation to continue to offer the North Valley Glee Club children’s choir as a tuition-free community outreach program.
The North Valley Glee Club is a six-week singing session, open to students age 8 through 12. North Valley Music School piano and voice instructor Emily Hackethorn, leads the choir, incorporating harmonies, rounds and more in age-appropriate fun songs of the season.
North Valley Glee Club’s pilot session ran from Oct. 27 through Dec. 8, culminating with a performance during the Whitefish Christmas Stroll.
The club will begin its second session on Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Classes will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Central Avenue and Third Street in downtown Whitefish. Student registration information is required for each session.

The school also offers a six-week early childhood group session of Music Together free for families with children ages birth through 5 years old who qualify for the free school lunch program.
This session will begin on Monday, Feb. 8, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at North Valley Music School. Music Together is an international early childhood music and movement curriculum for children and their caregivers.
