Arlee 51 St. Regis 23

Arlee hosted St. Regis on Friday. The Scarlets were on a nine game win streak and were hoping to extend that against the Tigers. St. Regis stuck with the Scarlets through three quarters, then Arlee kicked it into high gear and put up 22 points to win the game 51-23. Ella Lindbergh had a great game, scoring a game high 12 points. Carly Hergett and Alyssia Vanderburg each added nine.

Arlee 36 Plains 39

On Saturday, Arlee traveled to Plains hoping to avenge their only conference loss of the season. In a tight game, Plains jumped out to a 12-9 lead after one, then a defensive second quarter by both teams led to a 16-13 halftime score in favor of the Trotters. In the third, Arlee came out and doubled their score while holding Plains to six points, making the score 26-22 in favor of Arlee going into the final quarter. In the highest scoring quarter of the game, Arlee couldn’t stop the Trotters, who would go on to win the game 39-36 to stay perfect in conference play. Leading the Scarlets was Carly Hergett, who had 11 points to lead all scorers. Alyssia Vanderburg added eight.

Charlo 48 TER 38

On Tuesday, TER traveled to Charlo for a 14C conference match up. Both teams came out slow, with Charlo taking a five point lead after the first quarter. In the second, Charlo started to get some offense going, including a few layups by Cheyenne Nagy and a couple offensive rebounds that led to points. After going down 14-23 at halftime, Two Eagle made a comeback in the third quarter thanks in part to a three by Casadi Wunderlich that tied the game up. In the fourth, Nagy hit a few shots that she had been missing in the first half, and Charlo went up by five, then hung on to win the game 48-38.

Casadi Wunderlich led the Eagles with 15 and Tyra Michel added 10. For Charlo, Nagy had a game high 18 points, and Mikaylan Roylance and Tyrah Hammond each added seven.

On Friday, Charlo traveled to Noxon. The first quarter was a game of defense with Charlo leading 8-2. At halftime, the two teams had a sum of 20 points between them. In the third quarter Charlo scored only three points; Noxon scored one. Most of the scoring happened in the fourth when shots started falling for both teams. The final score was 31-17, Charlo. Skyler Frame led the Vikings with 11 points, followed by Cheyenne Nagy with seven points.

Last week, Mission continued their conference schedule with a game against Florence. The Falcons didn’t waste any time going to work on the Bulldogs, taking a 20-4 lead after one. In the second Mission dug into the lead, outscoring Florence by three points, making the score 26-13 at half. Both teams had a good offensive third quarter, but the Falcons out did the Bulldogs in the end, winning the game 64-34. Sydney Castor and Tianna Brown each had eight points for Mission and Bryar McCrea and Jordyn Eichert added six.

Mission 14 Eureka 58

The Bulldogs struggled offensively against the Eureka Lions on Saturday. The Lions outscored Mission by 12 in the first quarter, then held them scoreless in both the second and third quarters. Mission scored nine to Eureka’s five in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to make up the gap, and Mission lost the game 14-58. Sydney Castor led the team with seven points.

On Thursday, Ronan hosted Loyola. The Maidens came out slow, committing a few turnovers and struggling offensively. Loyola took a two point lead after the first quarter, then extended that to three at halftime. Ronan came out in the second half and had a huge third quarter behind Lee Camel and Micalann McCrea. Loyola stuck close until about halfway through the fourth quarter, when Ronan jumped out to a 14 point lead thanks to a few offensive rebounds by McCrea. The Maidens went on to win the game 61-44. Lee Camel led the team with 21 points, followed by 18 from Micalann McCrea.

Ronan traveled to Libby on Saturday. The Maidens took a seven point lead into the break, but Libby came out in the third quarter and cut that lead to four going into the last quarter. Ronan held off a comeback to win the game by three points. It was Alicia Camel’s 20 points that led the team, but 27 points by Libby’s Shannon Reny, which was over half of their points, kept Libby in the game.

At Polson, the host Lady Pirates prevailed in their nonconference rematch with Stevi. After a sluggish start for both teams, the Lady Pirates erupted in the second frame to establish a respectable cushion at halftime. Polson expanded their advantage to double figures, then stretched that further into the teens 27-13 halfway through the final frame. However, the Jackets dialed a triple, converted a pair of deuce-and-ones followed by another unanswered basket to pull within a single score 27-24 with less than two minutes remaining. Then Stevi clamped down on defense, shutting down avenues for Polson to inbound the ball. Defenders intercepted, then rerouted their purloined possessions back the other way to close the gap further.

Brenna Clarke corralled rebounds from errant Stevi shots, then drove the lane at the other end, drawing fouls in the process. She would make a trio of trips to the line and converted a quartet from the charity stripe to preserve the win.

Clarke and Nichole Lake shared team scoring honors, while the Lady Pirates matched a season high for blocked shots. Lake crested the century plateau for seasonal scoring.

At Frenchtown, the visiting Lady Pirates almost scored as many points in the first half as they had the entire game the last time these two teams clashed. Polson would take a sizable seven into the locker room at halftime. The amount of points the Lady Pirates tallied the second half would have been enough to hold the Lady Broncs at bay the last time they met, but Frenchtown erupted for their highest scoring quarter as well as second half of the season to rally past their rivals.

Nichole Lake reset the bar with a new varsity career high for the second time this season, while guards Lauren Lefthand and Brenna Clarke combined to rake in a dozen rebounds.

Lake and Clarke have both purloined over two dozen steals thus far on the season. Clarke has delved out just under two dozen and a half assists, while Marlee Congdon has divvied up just over a dozen and a half dishes.

Polson will have already played Ronan on Tuesday just past, then travel to Eureka on Thursday, then host the Kats of Columbia Falls for the opener of a doubleheader on Saturday, February 6.

Two Eagle hosted a tough Seeley-Swan team Saturday night in Pablo. They put up 27 points in the first quarter on the Eagles and didn’t look back, going up 46-8 at half and ended the game ahead 64-22. Ten Seeley players scored compared to TER’s six. The leading scorer for the Eagles was Shay Andrews, who had eight.
