PLAINS – The Plains Police Department are investigating a break in at the Circle Restaurant, after money was discovered missing Wednesday morning.

According the Police Chief Shawn Emmett, the break in was discovered Wednesday morning by a Circle employee when they noticed money was missing from the cash registers. The thief or thieves appear to have entered the building through an unsecure window and left the same way.

Approximately $300 cash was stolen and some of the cash registers were vandalized. No other damage was reported. It is believed the break in occurred sometime between Tuesday evening, after approximately 9 pm, and Wednesday morning, before 8:20 am.

The police are continuing to investigate the situation. They have a couple leads and a person of interest in the case, but no further information was given.

“I think we’ll be able to have charges filed pretty quick,” said Emmett.

The police ask that anyone with information about the incident contact them at 826-5990.
