The Bonners Ferry Herald welcomes new reporter Sarah Jenkins

Growing up in Bonners Ferry, I never dreamt that I would be given the opportunity to be the voice of the community. I am very excited to start my career with the Herald.
I married my high school sweetheart, and we were husband, wife and Army. Deployments, two awesome daughters and seventeen years later we decided to move back to our hometown. Although with our military family we have a comrade, we missed the closeness of family and friends.
I have my Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice-Forensic Psychology and currently the head cheerleading coach at Bonners Ferry High School. Writing comes naturally for me and is one of the simplest parts of completing my degree.
I love being back in the area, especially our resident moose. Moose are my favorite animal because they are so gigantic and awkward, yet at the same time graceful. This is my personal reminder that life can be so difficult, however so rewarding at the same time.
One of the areas that I am a strong advocate for is our military. I appreciate the stories that Veterans have to tell; they have a plethora of information that many have not have the privilege of hearing.
Our children are also a passion in which I hope to bring their stories to light.
