Moses Lake shackles Sunnyside in second half

SUNNYSIDE — Locked in a tight game at halftime, 31-28, Moses Lake used its defense to cruise past Sunnyside for its 18th win in a row.

Moses Lake held Sunnyside to 10 points in the second half and won going away, 63-38.

Jessie Loera and Jamie Loera scored 24 and 20 points, respectively. Abby Rathbun chipped in 10 points and Jessica Olson added five.

The win clinched at least a share of the Columbia Basin Big Nine league championship for Moses Lake.


Ephrata 61, East Valley 55

EPHRATA — Ephrata locked down the No. 4 seed in the district tournament after a 61-55 win over East Valley.

Harley Vanatta netted 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Tigers.

The game shifted in the third quarter when Ephrata outscored East Valley 16-8. Katie Hilliard and Madi Youngers added 13 points each.

Ephrata, East Valley and Wapato ended the regular season with identical 12-6 records. East Valley nabbed the No. 3 seed by virtue of a number draw. Ephrata won both meetings against Wapato.


Prosser 46, Othello 41

PROSSER — Hadassi Valdez’s 23 points wasn’t enough as Othello lost to Prosser 46-41.

Diamond Franco added nine points for the Huskies.


Toppenish 57, Quincy 33

TOPPENISH — Quincy ended its season with a 57-33 loss at Toppenish.

Elizabeth Nielsen scored a team-high 16 points for the Jacks.


Mabton 63, Warden 34

MABTON — Warden struggled on road against No. 5 Mabton, scoring over 10 points in just one quarter.

Bailey Whitney scored 12 points for the Cougars in the 63-34 loss. Allycia Gonzales added nine points.

Warden is the No. 3 seed from the Central Washington 2B South division and will play Brewster, the North’s No. 2 seed, Wednesday at Wenatchee High School.


Waterville 50, Soap Lake 20

SOAP LAKE — Soap Lake dropped its game to Waterville 50-20.

The Eagles end their season Tuesday against Bridgeport.
