The Valkyries of Bigfork rolled into Troy Friday night and wreaked havoc on the Lady Trojans, handing the local girls a 56-17 loss.

Bigforks twin towers, five-foot-11 Lana Berg and six-foot-two Miranda Campbell, combined for 38 points in the lopsided victory. Troy’s leading scorer was Allie Brown with six.

Despite the final score, head coach Justin Young said his team showed character in the loss.

“The Bigfork game was not one of our better nights,” he said. “Cold shooting combined with outstanding play by Bigfork’s bigs led to a lopsided defeat. We got some great looks early on the offensive end, we just couldn’t covert them. Some nights you can’t buy a bucket, and unfortunately this was one of those nights. You also have to give credit where credit is due. Bigfork is playing some great basketball right now. They are going to be a tough team to face down the stretch. I was proud of the way our girls fought against Bigfork. They played to the buzzer and never gave up. That’s just at testament to their character.”
