Bravettes battle Big Sky, but come up 2-points short

Flathead battled all the way with Missoula Big Sky on Saturday afternoon, but the Bravettes came up two-point short in falling to the Eagles 35-33 at Flathead High School in girls Western AA division basketball play.

Flathead had the ball with 26 remaining, worked for a good look, but missed a shot as Big Sky escaped with the victory.

“It was a good game,” Flathead coach Lisa Hendrickson said. “A lot of people stepped up. We had good contributions from everybody.”

Tiana Johnson led Flathead (4-12 overall, 0-8 league) in scoring with 10 points. Sierra Siblerud was next with eight.

Anna Gragg had 17 points for Big Sky.

WHITEFISH— Columbia Falls more than doubled Whitefish’s score in the first quarter and kept pace in a Northwestern A conference blowout.

Peyton Kehr scored 23 points to lead the Wildkats, who led Whitefish 22-10 after the first quarter and 43-18 at half. Kiara Burlage added 14 points and Sydney Hovde 13 for Columbia Falls.

Dani Douglas had 11 points to lead Whitefish.

MISSOULA — Glacier outscored Missoula Sentinel in each of the final three quarters to pick up the Western AA victory.

Down 10-7 after eight minutes of play, Glacier ripped off 19 points in the second quarter for a 26-21 halftime lead.

Glacier outscored Sentinel 27-17 after that.

Blayne Bailey had 17 points for Glacier. Tadan Gillman tossed in 12 and Noah Lindsay netted 11.

Flathead was outscored in those quarters 30-7.
