Business students advance to international event

Glacier and Whitefish high schools had a combined 58 students qualify for internationals at the Montana DECA Career Development Conference.

Students had to finish in the top three to qualify for the international competition. Glacier had 42 students qualify for the International Career Development Conference April 23-27.

Glacier students took first place in 10 events. Whitefish had 16 students qualify for internationals, capturing first place in seven events.

“I would say the future of business In our area is bright with students like these preparing to lead,” said Nadine Ross, the new Whitefish DECA adviser.

At state, students competed through role playing, presentations and written research in a variety of events using knowledge in marketing, finance, hospitality and tourism, business administration and entrepreneurship. The international competition will be in Nashville, Tennessee.
