Charges are reduced in assault case

SANDPOINT — A Sandpoint man accused of threatening another with a hatchet during a confrontation pleaded guilty to reduced charges.

Robert Cameron Hegseth was originally charged with aggravated assault, but he entered guilty pleas to misdemeanor charges of assault and possession of a deadly weapon with intent to commit assault.

Hegseth, 23, entered the pleas during an arraignment hearing in 1st District Court on Tuesday, court records show.
