The Trojans of Troy picked up a critical play-in victory at home Tuesday night, dispatching the Lions of Lincoln County High, 53-22.

Troy’s boys were stingy on the defense, holding Eureka to single digit scoring in each quarter of the game. Senior standout Sean Opland scored 25 for the victorious Trojans, adding eight rebounds.

Head coach Jerry Mee was pleased with his team’s performance.

“Zach Cotten did a nice job into the game giving us a spark with seven points,” Mee said. “Tucker Winn added six. Adam (Tallmadge) and Sean (Opland) each had eight rebounds. We played well on defense the entire game holding Eureka to single figures each of the four quarters. Offensively, we got things going in the second quarter, scoring 18, and the third, scoring 20. We take our hats off to Eureka, they played hard the entire game. The stakes are now higher as we travel to Bigfork and in order to have a chance we are going to have to play well.”

The Trojans played Bigfork Thursday, but the score was not available as of press time. The District 7-B consolation and championship games will be held in Polson Saturday.
