MATTAWA — The Mattawa Mart and Union 76 gas station at 88 W. Government Way in Mattawa was robbed about 5 a.m. Friday, according to Mattawa Police Chief John Turley.
There were no line officers on duty at the time. Turley responded to the call from his residence. The robbers had fled by the time he arrived.
Turley said there were two female employees working in the store at the time of the robbery. They reported to the chief that there were three robbers, all masked and gloved. Two had firearms.
The chief said there were no usable fingerprints left behind. He said the two women did not recognize either of the robbers or their voices.
“We gathered information over the weekend and worked with other agencies, including the FBI,” Turley said Monday. “We are considering putting up a reward for information.”
Turley said he has some information that can’t be released at this point. It is believed the thieves were young, possibly two juveniles and an adult. He said the FBI is analyzing surveillance video.
This is the second time Mattawa Mart has been robbed, the chief said. He added that the investigation continues.
