WENATCHEE — Big Bend improved to 12-1 in the NWAC East after a blowout win against Wenatchee Valley.

Big Bend led by double digits throughout for a final score of 100-76.

The Runnin’ Vikes are the No. 1 ranked team in the NWAC and have nailed down a playoff spot.

No. 1 Big Bend hosts No. 2 Spokane in a de facto NWAC East championship game. Big Bend won the first meeting in Spokane 96-87 and is the defending East region champion.

On Saturday, the women’s game starts at 2 p.m. and the men’s game begins at 4. The men’s game will be featured as the NWAC Game of the Week.

More, Big Bend guard-forward Ryker Pierce was selected as the NWAC Player of the Week. Pierce averaged 30 points and 7.5 rebounds last week in wins over Columbia Basin and Walla Walla.

Pierce averages 21.9 points per game, which is good for sixth in the NWAC. He also is 10th in free throw percentage (81.9 percent) and 13th in three-point percentage (44.2).
