SANDPOINT — The Lake Pend Oreille School Board unaminously approved a new K-12 math curriculum on Tuesday. It is the first comprehensive math update for district students in seven years, and it is the result of a groundbreaking process.
LPOSD is the first school district in the nation to partner with EDReports to explore and select its new math program, according to Assistant Superintendent Dr. Becky Meyer. EdReports is an independent, nonprofit educational organization.
“This is really a new way of doing things. It’s very time-intensive. Teachers went above and beyond what they normally do,” Meyer said.
Fifty-eight teachers plus parents, patrons and students from all grade levels collaborated during a math curricular review to select the best new programs for the district's students.
