Lake County fire personnel spent the weekend responding to a series of fire-related calls according to Lake County Sheriff’s incident records.

The first fire-related call arrived at about 4:15 p.m. Saturday when Mission firefighters responded to a kitchen fire on Ash Lane. The fire, which appeared to be caused by faulty electric was extinguished and contained to the kitchen.

A second fire call was reported to Lake County emergency dispatchers at about 7 p.m. Saturday. 

Witnesses saw a car located near Highway 93 and Commerce Drive that appeared to be on fire.

Members of Polson Rural Fire Department responded to the scene and found that a snapped transmission line caused a great deal of smoke, but that the vehicle was not on fire.

Emergency dispatchers took a third fire call at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday when an alarm at Charlo High School sounded. The alarm was located near the new gym and workshop.

Lake County Search and Rescue personnel were dispatched Sunday afternoon to find a missing person in the Polson area. The missing adult was later located nearby.

Members of Charlo Fire Department responded to the scene and found no fire. Fire personnel searched the school for any signs of smoke or fire then called to have the alarm reset.

Members of Polson Rural Fire took the chance to practice ice rescue techniques at Jette Lake over the weekend. The ice rescue exercise was originally planned for early February.

A Polson house fire destroyed part of a home’s interior at about 10:30 a.m. Feb. 14.

Polson City firefighters responded to the scene and contained the fire to one side of the residence. Though the fire devastated part of the homeowner’s dwelling, the structure was still inhabitable, Polson Fire Chief Clint Cottle said.

No one was home at the time of the fire and Cottle said it does not appear to be suspicious.
