LETTER: 'Once upon a time' is true story

I enjoyed Mr. Molen’s letter in the Feb. 7 issue about “Once upon a time.”

Yes, I remember once upon a time when respect meant something, a time when big screen heroes were just that — big stars that made America great. We can’t produce that kind of stars anymore. They are a thing of the past.

Yep, we sure are in a sad state of affairs today. In general, Hollywood was great in those days — not all, but we didn’t need too many heroes because life was simple back then, yes, in the good old days.

Now we all have one foot in hell and the other in quicksand. How to get out of this mess is a task that nobody seems to know what to do. We are drowning in a sea of corruption, lies and hypocrisy — a cancer eating at our values and way of life, permissive society on and on to no avail. —Marcel Guy Cote, Libby
