SANDPOINT — Selkirk Fire Rescue and EMS firefighters will be stepping up to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, according to local firefighter Allo Pucci. The event, scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Sandpoint Safeway, will serve as a warm-up for the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle.

Selkirk Fire Rescue and EMS sends representatives every year to participate in this firefighter-only competition. Contestants from around the world will converge at the Columbia Center, the Emerald City's tallest skyscraper, on March 6 to race to the top.
