Special Olympics underway in Whitefish

Special Olympics athletes from across the state have converged on Whitefish.

Olympians took part in a parade up Central Avenue in Whitefish on Sunday afternoon.

The parade was part of the opening ceremony for the Montana Winter Special Olympics that included teams from across the state as well as cars and trucks driven by local first responders.

Special Olympics athletes engaged in competition Monday at Whitefish Mountain Resort and Grouse Mountain. The games wrap up today with more competition and awards ceremonies.

Climate change awards announced

Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
