PONDERAY — A Bonner County woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing merchandise from Walmart and gaming the store’s self-checkout lane system.

Bethann J. Cohen is charged with burglary. She made an initial appearance in magistrate court on Wednesday via videoconference from the jail. Judge Debra Heise set Cohen’s bail at $10,000 and appointed a public defender to represent her, court records show.

Cohen, a criminal complaint alleges, committed a series of thefts between Dec. 16 and Dec. 29. All told, $372 in merchandise was stolen.
